Domino Roadmap

The Beginning

The phased release of Wilder World has begun. Today we are launching early access. For the first time, Wilder NFT holders with the appropriate hardware can race the streets of Wiami — the first city in Wilder World.

In this moment we move from theory to practice — from dream to reality. Moving forward, new releases will happen every four to six weeks, where more assets, game modes, industries and functionality will be incrementally turned on.

In this ZINE we unveil two roadmaps: our Domino and Technical Roadmap. The first articulates our go-to-market plan in three acts. The second articulates our long-term technical vision and set of concrete dependencies. We conclude by answering many of the burning questions recently gathered from Wilders.

Let’s begin.

The Simulation

Moving forward we will increase our use of the term ‘Simulation’.

We define the simulation using four principles:

  1. Realistic — Enables maximal realism from the perspective of economy, immersion and visual fidelity.
  2. Concurrent — Enables millions of concurrent players within a single sharded computing environment.
  3. Permissionless — Enables anyone or any system to interoperate and transact according to logically shared rules.
  4. Sovereign — Enables maximal individual and collective sovereignty.

The simulation precisely articulates what we are building more than any other term. It encapsulates the full tech stack and all worlds, galaxies and universes that choose to interoperate.

The Ultimate Game

Wilder World aims to create more than just a virtual environment. Our vision is to create the ultimate game. To combine leading game genres into a single immersive experience like no other. Typically, action RPGs like GTA and Cyberpunk create a great experience, but relative to focused genres, certain elements fall short. Driving is not as good in open worlds as in racing games. Combat is not as robust as it is in combat games. Generally immersive story driven games lack high quality online modes relative to MMOs or do not have them at all.

Wilder World is building four core game modes to start. Each game mode can be played in isolation, or can interoperate with other game modes within the open world. This enables us to begin competing in major game genres like racing and combat, while moving towards a full open world MMORPG, and then to our full vision of the simulation.

Defining the game modes:

  1. Racing: A next-gen racing game focused on casual and competitive sim racing (similar to NFS, Forza, iRacing or Assetto Corsa).
  2. Mining: A next-gen RTS and simulation game (similar to Age of Empires or SimCity).
  3. Combat: A next-gen FPS and third-person combat game (similar to Halo or Fortnite).
  4. RPG: A next-gen MMORPG that combines all game modes (similar to World of Warcraft).

Wilder World is taking each competitive game mode seriously. Our intention is to be able to compete within each game category on a standalone basis, and then to combine each game mode into the ultimate game. The following chart outlines the main competitive vectors we are focused on for our racing mode.

Domino Roadmap

Operation Domino outlines our rollout plan over the next 12 - 18 months. Domino is comprised of three acts: ACT I, ACT II, and ACT III. Each act successively builds on the previous act, moving us closer to the full deployment of the simulation. The following outlines key moments on the road to the simulation that are described in detail below.

Domino includes a full roadmap for each act. The roadmap for ACT I is outlined below, with key details removed.

Important: Please note that this plan is subject to change. Reality is complex and evolving. We will do our best to continue to make enhancements and pivot when new learnings are discovered, and make decisions according to our vision and values.

ACT I

ACT I awakens the sleeping giant that is Wilder World. We begin with the first public release of Wilder World for NFT holders — v0.2.0. In this ZINE we set the stage with the introduction of Operation Domino and Simulation OS. Followed by the launch of Dev Log 5 tomorrow, which outlines significant progress made in the last 45 days. Moving forward, we will go from one Dev Log per quarter to two per month. Communication will continue to improve.

The first major moment of ACT I is GDC in San Francisco in late March. Leading up to and during the event we will announce important partnerships inside and outside of Web3. These include the key distribution and technical partnerships necessary to build the simulation. There are between 9 and 15 partnerships that will be announced during ACT I. Don’t expect IP deals. We are committed to making Wilder World an original story, created with you.

The next major moment will be from Minds Entering Other Worlds — aka MEOW. We’ll be launching our own blockchain called meowchain. A hyper-scalable, ultrafast, gasless Layer 2 for Ethereum. Yes, you heard that correctly — gasless. Once you bridge to meowchain you will never need to pay a gas fee again. More details on how this works under the hood will be unveiled closer to our mainnet launch. Wilder World and ZERO will move to meowchain and new projects will be encouraged and funded to develop the Wilder World, ZERO and MEOW ecosystem. Meowchain will natively enable account abstraction. This means that new players will be able to interact with their own wallet by simply using an email. This will significantly reduce friction for the masses. This can later be upgraded to a self-custody wallet for enhanced sovereignty, security and censorship-resistance. Meowchain is a necessary component to ensure Wilder World is maximally onchain.

After the launch of meowchain, we will unveil our core rewards systems, including Industry Staking, Zero Basic Income and Passport. These three systems will tie directly into our Trinity Rewards program. It will all happen on meowchain, in order to remove fees related to claiming rewards. Passport enables you to connect multiple wallets together, analyzes your assets, and force multiplies your rewards based on your participation. In addition to WILD rewards that have yet to be announced, 60% of the MEOW token supply has been reserved for future rewards, grants and funding programs. After nearly ten years in crypto, we’ve seen the good, bad and ugly with rewards programs. It’s always fun on the way up, but any missteps can lead to absolute annihilation. We have taken our time here to make sure this is done right. We will not forget the OGs who have travelled through the abyss with us to defend Wiami.

The last major moment of ACT I will be the first major release of Midnight in Wiami — our first racing game. This will include many features, including different competition modes, onchain rewards, multiple tracks, next-generation vehicles, damage, consumables (including NOS), body shops, parking, vehicle customization and more.

ACT II

ACT II unveils the collection of systems that define the virtual economy in Wilder World. It begins with the introduction of three economic papers:

Sovereign Economic Theory (SET) introduces a novel economic theory for the distribution of resources that can be applied to real or virtual worlds. This includes the primary systems of governance, economic models, and resource distribution mechanisms. SET replaces many of the traditional functions of the state with a democratically elected and decentralized AI, which is used to support in the efficient allocation of resources. SET takes the best ideas of capitalism and collectivism by leveraging AI to solve bureaucratic inefficiencies, while protecting the commons and rewarding value contributing citizens.

General Autonomous Tensor Environment (GATE) introduces a formal model for how to instantiate a virtual economy. The GATE represents the boundary between the outside world and the simulation. It is programmed using core primitives that have been built within the ZERO protocol, including fungible tokens, NFTs, bonding curves, liquidity pools, and blueprints. Energy moves from the outside world and is transformed to generate raw materials according to the rules of the GATE. Similar to the real world, these raw materials become the cost basis for all objects within the GATE. Raw materials are then mined, harnessed and transformed into productive goods and services to generate the world.

Metropolis introduces Wilder World’s own specific implementation of SET and GATE. It introduces the core resource types, resource generation mechanisms, the means of production, as well as land, zoning, and the first official Wiami urban plan. It outlines the flow of resources from industry economies, to land, to resources, as well as governance and token economics. It defines the key details for Wilder World’s anticipated land drop.

Similar to trading commodities in the real world, Wilder World will introduce many virtual assets that can be traded according to the rules defined within the GATE. Wilders will be able to generate, mine, refine, manufacture and sell objects inside and outside of Wilder World. Sort of like DeFi on steroids. This economic model creates a constraint to ensure that land within Wilder World has real utility and economic value, and that the production of future assets and industries are tied to actual supply and demand.

ACT II will culminate with the first drop of Wilder World LAND. This will include all of the parcels on the Island. LAND will be backed by WILD. This design ensures that the foundation of the Wilder World economy is backed by real economic value. Trinity holders will be airdropped LAND, which will be embedded with WILD (similar to an airdrop). If at any point a land owner wants to reclaim the WILD, they can return their land to the protocol by deactivating it, and receive the WILD free and clear.

ACT III

ACT III will begin with the release of Avatars. Wilders will be able to fully customize their own personal avatars with extensive fashion. The Avatar creator will come equipped with a built-in liquidity network, which enables Wilders to ‘try on’ fashion for sale, which has been created or is being sold by other Wilders, directly from within the game. Our fashion industry is called Cyberwear. This paves the way for a robust and extensive economic network of artisans, creators and fashion designers.

The second major moment of ACT III will be the introduction of the combat game mode. This will include a competitive third person shooter that will grow to support advanced weapons, melee combat, and hand-to-hand martial arts. Similar to Wheels Racing, combat will operate both as its own stand alone game mode and in the open world, enabling players to compete, level up and earn WILD.

The third major moment of ACT III will be the opening of Little Meow — the first neighborhood in Wiami — located on the south part of the Island. This will be followed by the full opening of the Island. For comparison, the Island is roughly the size of Cyberpunk, and will enable significant exploration and gameplay. We are doing our best to ensure all NFTs and industries are present in the world by this time, including all Wheels, Moto, Craft, Cribs, Kicks, Gens, PALs, Wolves, Wapes, Avatars and Cyberwear assets.

Technical Roadmap

It is difficult to articulate the scale and scope of the simulation. There are many different technologies, systems and infrastructure layers necessary in order to build it. We have many different elements that are actively being worked on, including Wilder World, ZERO, and meowchain, as well as a number of projects that will be outlined below.

We were recently inspired by the enhanced ETH 2.0 Roadmap. This roadmap does an excellent job of articulating the complexity and vision of the Ethereum ecosystem, including the necessary sub-systems, dependencies, and relative time scales. This is a valuable tool as it aligns the entire Ethereum ecosystem towards a single concrete vision.

In the next section we outline our first comprehensive technical roadmap. We hope this will serve as a valuable blueprint for the community. It will give insight to the various systems necessary to build the simulation.

Simulation OS

Today we introduce ‘Simulation OS’. Similar to how the personal computing revolution brought us operating systems like Windows and Mac OSX, the next generation of computing will be run by operating systems that give rise to the virtual world. Simulation OS encompasses the various components and systems necessary to build and run the simulation.

There are six core layers to Simulation OS that span Wilder World, ZERO, MEOW and more:

  1. The Chain: Fast, cheap, secure, decentralized and censorship-resistant execution and consensus.
  2. The Protocols: Core protocols, primitives and infrastructure for building sovereign virtual economies, networks and worlds.
  3. The Economy: The core building blocks to enable sustainable virtual finance, trade and world governance.
  4. The OS: The central interface that integrates all elements into an easy-to-use experience.
  5. The World: Wilder World — The first immersive working experience of the simulation.
  6. The Universe: The intelligence of an infinitely expansive self-governed and interoperable universe.

Burning Questions

Before we end, we want to get to a number of the burning questions that have recently been asked by Wilders.

1. Will GENs count towards forming a Trinity to claim a free Avatar?

Yes. A Trinity that includes a GEN will be eligible to claim a free Avatar. As previously discussed however, GENs will not count to Land Drop #1, but will apply to Land Drop #2 and #3.

2. The Trinity Totem snapshot was taken a while ago. When will we receive our Totem NFTs and be able to claim the IRL versions?

The Totem release is part of the Domino roadmap and will occur in two stages. The first will be a free airdrop of the Totem NFT. The second will be the IRL claim, which will incur fees for the material only to make and produce the physical item.

3. When is the next Beasts drop planned for release?

New Wilder Beasts collections are on hold until all existing Beasts are playable in-game. After that the production schedule will resume based on the existing plan.

4. When will be able to stake Wheels and do you have any info on the mechanics? How will staking work? Will there be a vesting period? Can I unstake at any time?

As outline above, Industry Staking will be deployed on meowchain as part of our new rewards systems and Metropolis. Individuals will be able to unstake at any time. There will be vesting, but the exact vesting period has not yet been decided.

5. What are the benefits of owning a Crib versus Land?

Land will enable you to build your own buildings using the resource economy that will be outlined in the GATE and Metropolis papers. Wilders will be able to build buildings based on different zoning types and then sell or rent their units. Cribs can be thought of as an individual unit, or the final product that can be sold with residential zoned land. Similar to these zoning types, players will be able to build factories, refineries, and stores with commercial, mixed-use and industrial zoned land.

6. When will the whitepaper be released?

The whitepaper will be a collection of papers, including SET, GATE and Metropolis that will be released in ACT II (outlined above). These papers form the foundation of the metaverse and design of Wilder World. Future papers have not yet been announced yet.

7. What upgrades will be made to the staking contract and when will these upgrades be implemented? Given the recent price action on ETH, it’s expensive to claim. Claiming to simply stake accrued pool rewards now exceeds $50? Can we batch claim rewards in one transaction?

Unfortunately ETH has become prohibitively expensive, hence the imminent and urgent need for meowchain. What we are likely to do is perform a migration path for Wilders to move their staked WILD to meowchain, free of charge, which would allow them to properly unstake. This is a complex and sensitive operation, but the best path forward. Once meowchain is live this will become a top priority.

8. Are there any updates on advantages for higher chain/max chain holders versus Trinity?

Longer chain Trinities will receive better zoned land that is closer to core of Little Meow. Longer chain Trinities will also receive enhanced (force multiplied) rewards with ZBI and Passport, once those systems go live.

Up Next

Get ready for the second domino to drop tomorrow — Dev Log 5 — with more dropping next week. While others were shilling, we were building. Now we rise.

With appreciation + gratitude,

The Wilders
