SUNSETTING THE ODYSSEY PROGRAM

SUNSETTING THE ODYSSEY PROGRAM

Introduction

With this week's initial rollout of our new website and Super Early Access, Wilder World is entering a new phase. As part of this process, we would like to provide an important update on our plans to close out The Odyssey program.

Based on community feedback, we’ve decided to release our rewards plan in stages, starting with this update on the conclusion of The Odyssey. Next, our upcoming Vision Paper will provide an extensive overview of the different elements that make up Wilder World, including details on our future rewards with key changes designed to supercharge our economy. Dev Log 14 will follow, offering a behind-the-scenes look into the development of Super Early Access (SEA).

The Odyssey’s Final Chapter

The Odyssey began as a three-part community rewards campaign to engage, create, and explore. While initially we had high hopes for the program, it became rampant with bot attacks, which made it increasingly difficult to manage and scale. The initial intentions of the program were to provide rewards to real humans from the Wilder community, but industrialized bot farms took control, possibly with the help of the Forum. We take responsibility for this, have learned many lessons related to how bots operate at scale, and have been in active discussions with the community, soliciting feedback on the best way to move forward.

Given there are many perspectives, we feel it is important to hold a Wilder World DAO vote on the best way to definitively conclude this program and sunset it.

Our initial proposal is:

  1. To distribute a total of 3 million WILD.
  2. Distribute 60% to the Keepers Pool and 40% to the Mission Pool.
  3. Run a final process to attempt to remove bot accounts.
  4. WILD will be directly airdropped to participants on Z Chain or Ethereum, depending on L1 Gas fees.
  5. Begin to solicit DAO proposal feedback from the community during the week of April 7th, with the intention of launching the official proposal shortly after.

Odyssey Participants and Bot Removal

Throughout the duration of The Odyssey, participant accounts were continuously monitored to ensure the integrity of the program. Suspicious accounts were flagged and removed based on patterns consistent with bot or exploitative behavior. These included indicators such as shared IP addresses, unusual social linkages, and suspicious referral activity.

There are approximately 160,000 final participants. We have actively already removed over 500,000 known bot accounts, and a final review is currently underway to identify and eliminate any remaining inauthentic activity before rewards are distributed.

Terms of Service and Program Flexibility

When we launched The Odyssey, we made sure to define clear Terms of Service that included the ability to modify or terminate the program at any time. As stated in our Terms:

Taken from The Odyssey Terms and Conditions

We included this clause from the start to ensure flexibility in the event that the program’s original intent was compromised. Unfortunately, that’s exactly what happened. The spirit of The Odyssey changed as large-scale farming and bot activity took hold, making it harder to fairly reward real participants.

In addition to these challenges, broader market conditions also shifted, pushing us to reassess how we design a sustainable, community-aligned rewards system moving forward. This clause was put in place to protect the integrity of the program and the Wilder ecosystem as a whole.

Conclusion

As we move forward, guided by a clearer structure, stronger safeguards, and a renewed focus, we’re more committed than ever to creating a fair, transparent, and community-aligned rewards program for Wilder World.

We’re grateful to everyone who took part in The Odyssey and shared their thoughts along the way. Your contributions and patience have been instrumental in shaping what comes next.

With Blessings,

The Wilders
